Bicycle registration

Rocky Ripple residents can now register their bicycles through RRPD. The recent bicycle theft in Rocky Ripple led Marshall Kiefer to offer this service to residents.

You may register by downloading a .pdf or .doc file of the registration form. If you have MS Word, you can complete the .doc file and e-mail it to Marshall Kiefer (the preferred method). Simply complete the form, insert a photo of your bicyle by replacing the sample photo, then save it and send it via e-mail. Otherwise, print the .pdf version, complete the form, and deliver it along wtih a 4" x 6" photo of your bicycle to the RRPD office at 930 West 54th Street.

Registering your bicycle is free. RRPD is a member of the National Bicycle Registry. Should your bicycle be stolen, Marshall Kiefer will be able to access their system to see if your bicycle has been recovered. You'll need to complete a form for each bicycle you own.

Mission Statement: The Rocky Ripple Police Department has the fundamental duty to serve the community, to safeguard lives and property, to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression and intimidation, the peaceful against violence and disorder, and to respect the constitutional rights of all persons to liberty, equality and justice. The Rocky Ripple Police Department will seek to provide personalized police service that offers every law abiding citizen an opportunity to become active in the police process by assisting in the identification and solutions to problems leading to crime.

Bike Patrols: The department currently uses a Trek law enforcement bike. These specially-built bikes are sold only to police departments. They have heavy-duty components and upgraded accessories not normally seen on this level bicycle frame. The bicycle patrol provides many benefits to both the police and the community at large. The mobility of the bike enables the officer to patrol areas which are inaccessible to vehicles, while adding speed and stealth to their movements. Bike patrols move easily through congested areas as well, but the interaction of the bike officer with the public is by far the greatest benefit. The bike officer is more approachable and thus the officer receives important feedback on activity around the community.

The Marshall: The Town Marshall is Mike Kiefer. He can be reached at the Town Hall, 257-7962. If you have an emergency, dial 911. The Butler University Police Department can be reached at 940-9396.
